I noticed recently that I’ve been followed on social media by a few accounts that recruit girls and “train them” up to be high earners on webcam sites. You know, the sort of accounts that post endless screenshots of headlines, usually from one specific red top newspaper that deserves to be shot into the particular star that it is named after, talking about how much one webcam model makes a year from stripping off online, or “inspirational” quotes about being your own boss. I feel like the plethora of documentaries on camming and these sort of articles can be very misleading to the general public because, as with any freelance work, there’s no absolute guarantee of specific earnings because everyone is different.
I also had a guy DM me the other day to say that his “friend” is interested in setting up her own pay to view site and to ask me how much I earn from mine. Clearly he was just trying to be fucking nosey and find out how much money I earn from shaking my arse online because when I advised him to pass my e-mail over to his friend, I never ended up hearing from her. If his pal does turn out to be real, I recommended he tell them that I couldn’t really advise on the earning potential of such a site because there’s no point me telling them to their job and throw their all into baring all online if it turns out that not enough people actually want to see it. Social media can really skew things too because thousands of followers does not, unfortunately, translate directly into customers. Believe me on this one.
That being said, I thought it might be a good idea for me to write something of a tongue in cheek introduction of sorts into life as a webcammer, for anyone who has considered getting into it or for anyone who just likes to have a nose into other people’s lives, much like I do.
So, here are the things that I have learnt from the many years that I have been webcamming:
Webcamming is a real job
A lot of people seem to consider sex work as some skirt of skive from the real world and although sex work can provide a lot of us with flexibility and good earning opportunities, it ultimately is still a job and as with any job you have to work at it. If you want to make the sort of money you read about in those articles then you need to put the hours in and treat webcamming like a proper job. It’s incredibly hard to get motivated and stick to a strict working schedule when you work from home, as any freelancer in any industry knows, but if you treat it like a proper job and graft at it, you could eventually be swimming in a sea of red bottoms. It’s important to make yourself visible on these sites and advertise when you are going to be online across your social media platforms. It’s also important to provide your customers with a good service in order to create regulars and the like.
You’re not going to be for everyone
One of the worst things about webcamming is when you’ve sat around for ages waiting for a call and then finally, when someone does ring and you answer, they leave the chat a few seconds later after your camera has loaded for them. The same can be said for being sat in a free chat option with endless freeloaders popping in and out to see you or ask on repeat until the end of time “how’re you hun?”, without actually ever taking you into a paid chat. It can wear down both your will to live and your self esteem but unfortunately with any type of sex work you have to accept that you’re not going to be for everyone. Some men like big tits, some like small, some like augmented women, some prefer all natural, some like pubic hair and some would rather give up meat than even pretend to want to munch on a fur burger. You’re never going to appeal to everyone, but we all have our niche and try not to take the rejections to heart!
Please me, don’t tease me
One of the quickest things you learn while webcamming is that most people want to get their money’s worth, as quickly as they can. I couldn’t even begin to guess how many times somebody has come into my webcam room and demanded “show pussy bb” before we are even 30 seconds into the interaction. People are paying to view your camera and are usually very aware of this whilst doing so. They may demand to see the goods ASAP because they just want to nut and leave. Take things at your own pace and don’t feel you have to give them what they want as soon as they ask just to make your money. It’s always these ones who leave the room straight after they’ve seen what you’ve got anyway. Forget what you’ve heard; the customer isn’t always right.
You’re gonna see a lot of cocks
I don’t know how it works on other sites as I’ve only ever used Adultwork but there is an option when in these chats to open the customer’s camera. And the likelihood is, they are going to ask you to do it because men will always assume that you, the webcammer, want to see their penis. Unlike the dreaded dick pic, you can’t really blame them in this scenario as their cock literally IS the name of the game here. They buy so much into the fantasy of you too being so aroused for them, even though this is the fifteenth time today you’ve taken your knickers off for some horny bloke, but we let them believe what they want because ultimately we just want the money. Don’t get me wrong, if you webcam with me, you will get one hell of a service but I can guarantee you, I’m rarely ever actually horny.
Add to My List
Be prepared to watch a LOT of Netflix. I know some webcammers who if they are home all day will just switch their cam on and go about their day cleaning or doing stuff around the house or whatever until their webcam rings, but I’ve never been able to do that. In order to follow my own advice in point one of this article, I’ve always tried to set my work hours so I KNOW for 4 hours or however long I’ve decided, I will be sat in front of my laptop waiting for a call This means that I spend a hell of a lot of time scrolling endlessly through the multitude of shows or movies I’ve added to my Netflix list but never actually feel like watching before inevitably plumping for “Friends”. Never gets old. Also, be prepared to sit at your screen for ages then the second you get up to go pee or make a coffee, your camera will ring.
If you are looking to get into the adult industry and want any advice on setting up any kind of page, feel free to hit me in the DMS anytime! I may be dripping in sarcasm but I promise I am a lovely person, even if I do say so myself!

Jaye, slowly I understand you …
The insights into your job are really very interesting.
I confess that I had completely wrong ideas about your job.
I do love reading your blogs and you have really opened my eyes into the adult entertainment industry. Although I have never thought of the industry in a demeaning or derogatory way, I do now think that it is a valid service industry. Everyone has needs and every need has a “supplier” if you like. I do take my hat off to your colleagues mind, I could never do it, I wouldn’t have the confidence. But then again I could never work in7a multitude of other vocations either. Just one question though, I find, at 47,i am looking at my job thinking, I’m going to be doing this until I retire. Do you ever think you will just carry on until, and please don’t take this the wrong way as you are a stunningly beautiful woman, but until you feel that you just don’t have “it” anymore or have you got a set time line set out to say by the time I’m X years old I’m knocking all this on the head, settling down and having a family. If this is the case what do you see yourself doing AFTER you leave the industry.
Anyhoo have a good day
Hugs and cwtches

Hi – exactly that! No I don’t plan to do this forever or even for very much longer, am looking at launching some new ventures in the next few months! x
For the record, your thighs are perfect; as they are proportioned to your gorgeously thick legs and gluteus maximus. You adore your breasts(read your interview), but men like me love the full package. Curvaciously delectable!
